Despite a small setback–having to push the reading back a day–our first event of 2008 and one year anniversary was a wonderful success!
1718’s “papa,” the ever-charming, talented and heavily-tatted Cajun sensation, Martin Pousson, gave an absolutely electrifying reading of both old and new work to a completely packed house on January 16th. Drinks were had, books were bought (and lovingly signed), and chairs were full! The event was filmed (stay tuned for the footage!) by Justin from Loyola Media services. The student readers who followed Martin gave delightful readings to a sizable crowd; it’s always so great when people stay for the students!
The party continued into the night for those who stuck around after–not nearly as late as the 1718 crowd has been known to rage, but it was wonderful fun none the less!
Thanks to all who came to help us celebrate–both the (however brief) return of Martin and one year as New Orleans’ student-run reading series! We couldn’t do any of it without you!
